{"id":16,"date":"2010-05-29T19:40:52","date_gmt":"2010-05-29T19:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban-studies.eu\/?p=16"},"modified":"2010-05-30T14:30:24","modified_gmt":"2010-05-30T14:30:24","slug":"m-sc-%e2%80%9curban-studies%e2%80%9d-university-college-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban-studies.eu\/?p=16","title":{"rendered":"University College London"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Urban  Studies (MSc)<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/urbanstudies\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/urbanstudies\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This unique course is a collaboration between four UCL faculties (the  Bartlett; Arts and Humanities; Engineering; and Social and Historical  Sciences). \u00a0Students take two core modules in \u201cUrban imaginations\u201d and  \u201cCity, space and power\u201d and then choose further courses from over twenty  optional modules ranging from research training (for the  dissertation)\u00a0to specialist modules such as \u201cCreative cities\u201d, \u201cSpatial  planning\u201d, \u201cUrban design\u201d, \u201cAsian cities in a globalizing South\u201d,  \u201cItalian cinema and the city\u201d, and \u201cPost-colonial theory and the  multicultural city.\u201d This advanced interdisciplinary programme is aimed  at two main groups of students: \u00a0first, students from a professional  background who wish to take an opportunity for critical reflection and  skills enhancement for their career development; and second, students  who wish to consider embarking on a research career in the urban field  and see the MSc as a useful first step towards independent writing and  research at PhD or postdoctoral level. Entry requirements are the  equivalent of a first or upper-second class degree.
