DIA is looking for urban programmes and potential best practices, that have made an impact on people&#8217;s living environment. Best practices are outstanding contributions to improve the living environment. They are defined by the United Nations and the International Community at large as successful initiatives which:<\/p>\n<p>Have a demonstrable and tangible impact on improving people\u2019s quality of life;<br \/>\nAre the result of effective partnerships between the public, private and civic sectors of society;<br \/>\nAre socially, culturally, economically and environmentally sustainable.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nBest practices are promoted and used by the United Nations and the International Community as a means of:<\/p>\n<p>Improving public policy based on what works;<br \/>\nRaising awareness of decision-makers at all levels and of the public of potential solutions to common social, economic and environmental problems;<br \/>\nSharing and transferring knowledge, expertise and experience through networking and peer-to-peer learning.<br \/>\nAbout the DIA Best Practices Award 2012<br \/>\nDIA Best Practices Award 2012 consists of 11 Award:<\/p>\n<p>6 for Best Practices<br \/>\n2 for Best Practice Transfers<br \/>\n2 for the private sector<br \/>\n1 for individuals who contribute positively to improving the living environment.<\/p>\n<p>Dubai Municipality will present the Ninth Dubai International Award to a new group of 11 Best Practices Laureates in October 2012. DIA looks forward to receiving your submission before the 31st of March 2012.
