My paper will examine how business groups came to represent the<br \/>\npublic interest in twentieth century Los Angeles, and how that affected<br \/>\nfederal as well as local policies.  I can this panel incorporating<br \/>\nadditional studies of &#8220;special interests&#8221; &#8212; as in who is seen as<br \/>\nrepresenting the general public as opposed to a special interest &#8212; or<br \/>\nstudies of federal &#8211; local interactions.<\/p>\n<p>If interested, please send a message and paper proposal to Sarah Elkind <\nselkind@mail.sdsu.edu> by 17 February, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah S.
