March 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Along the Shore: The Landmarks of Brooklyn&#8217;s Industrial Waterfront<\/p>\n<p>National Endowment for the Humanities Summer 2012 Workshop<\/p>\n<p>Application deadline &#8211; March 1, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>No &#8211; we don&#8217;t have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you, but we do have a<br \/>\nbridge and other historic landmarks along the Brooklyn waterfront that<br \/>\nwe would like to show you. We invite you to apply for a weeklong<br \/>\nNational Endowments for the Humanities Landmarks of American History and<br \/>\nCulture Workshop for Community College Faculty, &#8220;Along the Shore: The<br \/>\nLandmarks of Brooklyn&#8217;s Industrial Waterfront&#8221;. The workshop will<br \/>\ncombine discussions and presentations, introductions to and use of<br \/>\nprimary source materials, media presentations, site visits consisting of<br \/>\nwalking, bus, and boat tours and media laboratory workshops.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWe will offer the workshop twice: June 3-9 and June 17-23.<br \/>\nIf you come, you will explore the changes and preservation efforts that<br \/>\nhave come to the landmarks along Brooklyn&#8217;s industrial waterfront,<br \/>\ndeclared one of Americas eleven most endangered historic places by the<br \/>\nNational Trust for Historic Preservation in 2007. You will also explore<br \/>\nthe nature and meaning of different types of landmarks along the<br \/>\nwaterfront and document and interpret specific landmarks using a range<br \/>\nof digital media that will bring these landmarks alive for you and<br \/>\nperhaps revolutionize your understanding of the term landmark.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will receive a stipend to assist with travel, food and<br \/>\nhousing.<\/p>\n<p>Please visit our website for more information:<br \/>\nwww.citytech.cuny.edu\/alongtheshore<\/p>\n<p>Richard E.
