Along the Shore: The Landmarks of Brooklyn’s Industrial Waterfront<\/p>\n

No – we don’t have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you, but we do have a
\nbridge and other historic landmarks along the Brooklyn waterfront that
\nwe would like to show you. We invite you to apply for a weeklong
\nNational Endowments for the Humanities Landmarks of American History and
\nCulture Workshop for Community College Faculty, “Along the Shore: The
\nLandmarks of Brooklyn’s Industrial Waterfront”. The workshop will
\ncombine discussions and presentations, introductions to and use of
\nprimary source materials, media presentations, site visits consisting of
\nwalking, bus, and boat tours and media laboratory workshops.
\n
\nWe will offer the workshop twice: June 3-9 and June 17-23.
\nIf you come, you will explore the changes and preservation efforts that
\nhave come to the landmarks along Brooklyn’s industrial waterfront,
\ndeclared one of Americas eleven most endangered historic places by the
\nNational Trust for Historic Preservation in 2007. You will also explore
\nthe nature and meaning of different types of landmarks along the
\nwaterfront and document and interpret specific landmarks using a range
\nof digital media that will bring these landmarks alive for you and
\nperhaps revolutionize your understanding of the term landmark.<\/p>\n
Participants will receive a stipend to assist with travel, food and
\nhousing.<\/p>\n
